At the end of 2019, on the initiative of newly elected President Volodymyr Zelensky, the project "State in a Smartphone" was launched.
The main idea is to help citizens receive services provided by the state in electronic form, which significantly simplifies the traditional bureaucracy. According to the plan, the project was to be fully operational within 3-5 years.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine was established to implement the idea of general digitalization of the country. One of the first steps of the new ministry was the launch of the public services portal "Diia" (Action) in early 2020. "Diia" is a site and mobile application that allows you to use basic documents in electronic form.
Thanks to the application, you can not carry paper originals:
- passport of a citizen of Ukraine
- taxpayer identification number
- certificate certificate

In the "Diia" you can also register as an entrepreneur, which will take no more than 15 minutes. Whether to open your own business, registration will take no more than 30 minutes.
You can pay taxes, watch state television, or take opinion polls through the application. In total, more than 70 online services are available on the portal. At the end of 2021, more than 12 million Ukrainians used "Diia".
